These are generally
intended for primary schoolchildren (key stages 1 and
2) and will
be led by an experienced class teacher (we are currently
using Tony Veal, who is an instrumentalist and conductor
with vast experience of
running courses such as these).
The courses, usually residential over two to four days,
are of great educational value to the children. Courses
are planned to support individual schools in their own
curricular programme and could include:
- Group workshops using percussion
instruments
- Learning to play the recorder
as a class project
- Singing techniques and choir training
- Conducting/repertoire for the
school orchestra
- Linking music with key stages
1 and 2 projects
- An intensive course, combined
with
to produce a school musical play
or
(within reason) whatever a school may want.
Minimum group size is 30 students, but a group having
30 students will receive 3 free teacher places.
Costs, negotiable with the House Manager when particular
requirements are known, will depend upon course content
and group size. |
